Artist Statement:
Wendy Ross is nationally recognized for her bronze portraiture and her large-scale abstract installations, including the George Mason Memorial on the National Mall, Flora, a fountain sculpture at Hopkins Plaza in Baltimore, and Concerto, a sculptural installation in the new Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax, Virginia.
Energy and movement characterize Ross's jewelry constructions. She brings her sculptural approach to jewelry to create unique, handcrafted, and light-weight dimensional forms with an inherent kinetic quality and permanent luster that never tarnishes. Wendy especially enjoys creating small-scale sculptural works because of the intimate relationship it affords the wearer. Her works intersect biology, physics, and architecture, fusing the mathematical and industrial with the poetic.
