Artist Statement:
Laurel is a DC-area artist who is primarily known for her ceramic installations and pottery that draw on patterns and rhythms found in nature and her study of and work with Japan over the past three decades. She has shown her work throughout the United States and abroad in the UK and at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, as part of the U.S. State Department's Art in Embassies Program. In 2021, Laurel was a Maryland State Arts Council Independent Arts Award recipient, and in 2023 received an MSAC Grant for Artists. Her work has been reviewed in The Washington Post, Home & Design, and American Craft Magazine, among others.
