Artist Statement:
My work is best described as "my personal journey into woodworking throug understanding and learning about trees." Whether it's ditch wood from the side of the road, a pilfered scrap from someone's hardwood pile, reclaimed materials from work or friends, or even a several hundred-dollar exotic burl (ethically harvested, of course), i want to see what's inside! Nature gives us incredible designs, colors, textures, and even smells! All are hidden inside every piece of wood and it's my passion to find the best way to present it.
My focus is mainly turned wooden objects ranging from burial urns to salad bowls. But I also enjoy making functional art pieces, from furniture to hand-carved eating utensils. I want people to see and use my work while gaining an appreciation for the natural beauty all around us. Man has no debt older or deeper than that which he owes to trees and their wood.
